Its a Marathon, Not a 100M Race..

I keep telling my students that internet marketing is like a marathon, not a 100 sprint. You can’t spend all your money and effort in the first 3-4 weeks and then decide it is not working. Internet marketing is not easy, but it is not that hard either. You don’t learn it in a few weeks, but anyone is able to do it if enough effort is put in over some time.

People spend thousands of dollars going to colleges or universities to learn skills which may or may not get them a job eventually, not to say getting rich. Internet marketing is a skill which can make you very rich! Don’t you think you need to spend some time learning it properly?

If you are just starting out and are totally new. I have a few tips you want to follow.

1. Find a good training/marketing system and a good mentor.

I personally use a system called MLM Lead System Pro. It has comprehensive recorded and live trainings which are especially good for beginners.

2. Pick one or two areas which you want to learn and learn it properly before moving on.

There are many ways to market online, ranging from free marketing methods like free classified, social media and forum to paid advertising methods like Google PPC and listbuilders. You have to pick one or two methods and learn everything you can about it. Don’t try everything at the same time as you will get confused and loss.

3. Set your monthly budget.

You don’t need a lot of money. However, you need to have probably minimum $100 per month for the marketing system, autoresponders and ebooks. If you don’t have anymore on top of that, then pick free marketing methods. If you have some money set aside, make sure you stick to your budget and don’t use up all the money in the first few weeks.

4. Set aside a set period of time everyday for learning and marketing.

Being consistent is the key. Write a marketing plan and stick with it. You should be spending at least one hour per day on your training and at least 2 hours on marketing.

5. Stay focused and do not give up.

Yes… there are a lot of distraction online. There are so many different marketing systems, so many gurus, so many ebooks and various products. Buying a new product will not make you better. You need to improve yourself as a marketer and buy training material which fits with your marketing plan. For example, if you have decided to learn video marketing, don’t be tempted to buy a Google Adwords ebook because it is on offer or in prelaunch. Focus on what you are doing is the key.

Oh, and if you did not get a chance to watch the great video with Tony Robbins and Frank Kearn.. Check it out now.
