Are you guilty of promoting your business on facebook? Yes, I said guilty, as if you did something horribly wrong. But how am I supposed to promote my business, you ask?
Most Network Marketers talk to everybody they know about their business, even those that aren’t qualified, just praying somebody will see their vision of this great opportunity.
Do you want to know what your prospect hears when you tell them how great your company is, what great leadership your company has, how much money your sponsor made already, how amazing the comp plan is? You may not like what you hear but maybe it will be a reality check!
Imagine we are at a party and I come up to you and would like to connect with you, make a good impression and promote my business to you, and the first thing out of my mouth are.
HOW OLD ARE YOU? IS THAT YOUR REAL HAIR COLOR? HOW MUCH DO YOU WEIGH? ARE YOUR ( ) REAL. You can fill in the blank. Remember this is like the game show Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader. I know this might be offensive to some, but really this is what your prospect hears.
The fact is your prospect has already made up their mind from past experiences, when you make a pitch about your opportunity. That’s not to say Network Marketing is bad, it’s just everybody does it wrong, so your prospect already has made up their mind. You need to stand out, be different. You haven’t said anything your prospect wants to hear to get started on the right path.
Don’t worry; it’s not your fault. The fact is Network Marketing takes anybody with a big desire, unfortunately more than desire is required and the business skills that most of us acquired from our early trainings through college do not translate well into free enterprise. Most people forget about the second part of Network Marketing. They think marketing isn’t required, just networking. No wonder most people mess up in this business.
Interesting how most network marketers are willing to spend money on a business but not on learning any marketing skills, Hmm. Isn’t that kind of backwards? Without marketing you DON’T have a business.
So what does this have to do with FACEBOOK? Well, what an easy way to promote your business without the fear of rejection. But is it successful? Actually NO! Your Facebook friends hears the same thing as if you were at the party and they hear blah, blah, blah.
Pretend Facebook is like a party! Would you go out at a party and the first things out of your mouth are about your opportunity? You wouldn’t be much fun at the party would you? How about getting to know them and invite them to your home for a barbeque? That’s what we as social beings do. Right! So why don’t we do that on Facebook. Great Idea, right, Okay so where is your home? Your companies replicated web site, right? WRONG! Well…
